Janko Hanushevsky was born in Linz/Austria in 1978. At age five he started to play the cello and exchanged it for electric bass in 1994. He studied Jazzbass at the Conservatory of the City of Vienna from 1997-2002 and has been a student of Contrabassvirtuoso and composer Peter Herbert for more than ten years. Since 2001 he has been exploring "extended techniques”, searching for different, unconventional ways of creating sounds on the electric bass. Janko has been playing numberless concerts in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy mainly in contemporary jazz and free improvised music. He composes music for theatre (a.o. schauspielfrankfurt, Muenchner Volkstheater) and has been a regular member in many different bands. Since 2002 he has been working with Eva Pöpplein as Merzouga. He lives in Cologne. |
